Croatia is located in South-Eastern Europe.

Croatia stretches between Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Serbia and Montenegro and shares the Adriatic Sea with Italy.

Croatia became an independent state in 1991 as part of the break-up of former Yugoslavia and the 28th Member State of the European Union on 1 July 2013.

The economy of Croatia is based mainly on light industry and services, making it a "green" country: over one third of its land is forested with several enchanting natural parks.

The best known features of Croatia are the Istrian Peninsula and the Dalmatian coast, with a crystal-clear sea, their white sunny beaches, hundreds of beautiful islands and their many historic cities - among them Pula, Zadar, Split and  Dubrovnik.
